Having previously collaborated with New Balance on a shoe inspired by its native city of Tokyo, atmos has lately released a desert-themed 2002R.
The new shoe, dubbed “Oasis,” is constructed from a variety of luxury materials, including suede, nubuck, and mesh, in beige, brown, and gray hues to convey the mystique of the desert. The majority of the midfoot panels of the New Balance 2002R have earth tones suggestive of the aforementioned desert terrain, while the toe and heel panels use heritage-friendly greys. The profile “N” logos, however, depart from their subdued surroundings with a brilliant blue tint that wonderfully reflects the oasis motif; the 860v2 follows suit with padding that resembles a beam. The other components of the sole unit are basic and consistent with the motif, with New Balance Running-inspired traction with a brown finish.
Enjoy advertising photography of the pair below, and look for them at select atmos shops and online on Friday, October 28.
