When asked about the distinction between Prada and Miu Miu, designer Miuccia Prada stated, “Miu Miu is less complicated and well-thought-out… Miu Miu is immediate, rather than youthful.” This distinction is immediately apparent in the two labels’ designs, with the diffusion label frequently favouring bright, bold colours and unconventional womenswear styles.
Miu Miu has taken a familiar approach with their first footwear collaboration with New Balance, simply lensing the iconic 574 silhouette through their “aesthetic codes.” Raw, distressed edges decorate nearly every panel across the white, khaki, and navy colorways — all of which are Made in Italy — warping the NB classic to fit the brand’s definition of “rebellious luxury.”
To commemorate the collection’s launch, New Balance and Miu Miu commissioned Tyrone Lebon to create a collage featuring model Alix Bouthors, singer-songwriter Liv.e, and actor Mame Bineta Sane.
Take a look at the campaign imagery below to see all three pairs. Currently, all three are available in limited quantities on miumiu.com for $695 USD.
