Since its introduction in 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 has been the footwear of choice in dozens of nations worldwide. Japan is one such nation that has embraced Bruce Kilgore’s innovation, inspiring special editions such as the “NAI-KE” series.
The newest iteration of “NAI-KE,” a kanji phonetic transcription of “Nike,” has a brown hairy suede upper. The midfoot, tongue, and heel include decorative stitching, further establishing the Air Force 1‘s Japanese origin. Lace dubraes also reference to the influence of East Asia, while midsoles opt for a somewhat yellowed finish that refers to the “Land of the Rising Sun’s” old sensibility.
