Throughout the 2000s, Japanese streetwear company realmad HECTIC reworked the New Balance 580 extensively, while a number of third-party contributors poured their perspective into the shape. After being revitalized to widespread acclaim with the assistance of Palace and Stray Rats, the New England-based company has mined its historical archives for a new lineup of inline products.
Taking direct influences from the 2003 collaboration between realmad HECTIC and Stussy, which outfitted the NB 580 in a pair of neutral-hued versions, the current edition adopts the “Olive” look of the latter.
Swapping the original construction’s golden mesh foundation for a simpler cream hue, the rest of the model stays almost same with “Olive”-treated nubuck overlays and a tan rubber midfoot panel. Metallic Silver highlights reappear on the heel tab and adjacent “N” logo carrying a yellow trim that culminates along the green branded tab on the tongue. White laces contrast with jet-black eye stays above that’s dark coloring is color-matched along the tread before a vanilla-colored Roll bar is attached to a white midsole.
Below are official photographs of the New Balance 580 “Olive” as we await more release information anticipated in the coming weeks.
