The adidas Superstar Commemorates Chinese New Year With Three Traditional Animals

Deviating from its louder commemorative takes found on the Solar Hu and Crazy BYW, adidas is set to release a mostly-white Superstar for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Although the Chinese Zodiac has 2020 as the Year of the Rat, the critter does not appear on this forthcoming Superstar. Instead, three water color-like graphics depicting a crane, tiger, and koi fish appear throughout the sneaker. Symbolic of longevity and peace, the feathered-bird on the lateral side midfoot has been adorned with a red beak and crown, as well as blue gradient feathers in a style resembling traditional Chinese painting. At the tongue, the King of all Beasts – the tiger – is given a gold-foil finish as he’s outlined in a pouncing stance. Rounding out the trifecta, a pink koi-fish – representative of good fortune – takes over much of the heel in a pinkish-purple palette also done in a water-color effect.

Grab detailed images at the celebratory Superstar below and expect them to hit adidas.com and affiliate retailers as the Chinese New Year inches closer.
