As Jordan Brand strives to expand its audience and maintain its dominance in the shoe market, it continues to explore ignored concepts. Recently, Team Jumpman redesigned the once-derided Air Jordan 1 Mid with textures and colors evocative of basketball.
In off-white and “Sport Spice,” the forthcoming shoes resemble the famous “Shattered Backboard” collection, which debuted in 2015. There are raised dots on each orange overlay, while the toe box, midfoot, and collar are covered in a cream-colored underlay. The black trim on the profile swooshes matches the “Air Jordan” emblem on the lateral ankle flap and the Jumpman label on the tongue. Underfoot, the much copied midsole is kept basic in white, while the renowned traction returns to the “Sport Spice” hue for a last touch of flare, similar to the “Starfish” release for ladies.
