The Swoosh began its inclusive journey of equipping the game’s top hoopers regardless of gender in 1988 with the iconic Air Force 3 model, which was complemented by Nike’s legendary “WHO SAID WOMEN WERE NOT MEANT TO FLY?” advertisement. The Beaverton-based company is reverting to its empowering ethos for a range of basketball silhouettes highlighted by Elena Delle Donne’s first signature shoe, which features a lineup of WNBA’s top-tier players.
The third installment in the six-time All-lineup Star’s of rare releases adopts a neutral look, painting the Nike Air Deldon’s Flyease forefoot in crisp white and the midsole and collar in a subdued Off-White colorway. The grey mudguard and rubber Swoosh adorned with a white secondary emblem are imbued with a gloomy personality by the addition of black speckles; the color-matched midsole is further accented by the same hued upper. The dotted shading is used to create a lasting contrast along the heel counter, suede quarter overlay, and ankle branding, before dark violet hues are introduced on the tongue lining, pull tab, and accent stitching. Underfoot, a combination of subdued neutrals cover the tread, with “Together We Fly” insignia scribbled on rust-colored insoles as a finale.
