Nike’s most famous motto, “Just Do It,” has been associated with the company for many years, with the message conveyed via advertisements, collateral, and even footwear. And, in honour of Dan Wieden, who conceptualised the piece of marketing all those years ago, the three-word statement is now appearing atop the Air Force 1 just in time for its 40th birthday.
The tongue is made of breathable mesh, which is unusual for the shape. Its logo is also unique, with a Swoosh sandwiched between an oval-shaped outline and a patch. The laces, which are an off-white colour hardly distinguishable from the nearby leathers, divide the logo from the dubrae, whose gold setting enhances its diamond-like, ’82-inspired stone. Other details include “Just Do It” written on the sole of the shoe, red logo hits embroidering the back and forefoot, and snakeskin accenting the Swoosh and heel tab, the latter in green and the former in black.
