The Nike Air Force 1 React Combines Two Ground-Breaking Cushions

Since 1982, Air has been the primary source of innovation for the Air Force 1. Combined with a timeless design and an iconic traction pattern defined by the “pivot point” layout, the Air Force 1 has dominated as the ultimate footwear style icon, losing little to no ground as it enters its fourth decade. This Air Force 1 React is just one of several presentations that the Swoosh has planned for the 40th Anniversary, and today we get our first look via official images.

While the shoe’s overall design remains the same, there are some noticeable changes to this modernised version. At the toe-box, the shoe appears to be flipped inside-out, while a transparent TPU panel replaces the mid-panel and ankle, revealing an interior bootie. A textured heel pull-tab adds some resistance, while a padded tongue lends the overall silhouette a futuristic vibe. Finally, a React foam plate is incorporated into the sole, with some of its components visible on the medial and outsole.

While the combination of React and Air results in a comfortable cushion package, how do you feel about the design? A release date will be announced shortly, but in the meantime, enjoy the official images below.
