Ever since Marty McFly first slipped his foot into the Nike Mag in 1989’s Back To The Future 2, the film has been famously intertwined with the Swoosh Brand and sneaker culture as whole, and now it’s being used as a touchpoint once again for a new hoverboard-inspired Nike AlphaDunk. Featuring a pink, volt, green, and black colorway that draws from the film’s famous hovering skateboard, these AlphaDunks combine a textured woven forefoot with a leather quarter and heel for a two-piece look. While the front half of these Nike shoes offers an amalgamation of red and black for a berry-hued tone, the back half is where most of the special stylings take place. The lateral side features a tilted translucent Swoosh with an underlaid Nike text graphic and an embroidered “LOB” hit on the right shoe/arrow graphic on the right shoe, while the medial side boasts an impressive abstract colored collage, similar to the print on the aforementioned hoverboard. More special detailing arrives on both the heel and throat tabs, while the insoles offer “Imagination” and “Library Of Bounce” graphic hits. From a performance standpoint, these futuristic hoop then call upon a full-foot Zoom Air cushioning system that’s double-stacked in the heel. As the Alphadunk is a spiritual successor to the Nike Hyperdunk line — which released in a famous McFly inspired colorway back in 2015 — it only makes sense that it would also also tip its cap to BTTF II with a special makeup.
