While the Nike Air Presto is currently viewed solely as a fashion item, its origins are in performance running. After debuting in a colorway reminiscent of the Hike Nike Man’s outdoorsy ensemble, the “t-shirt for your feet” (as the brand’s marketers dubbed it) has now surfaced with details about a mountain road race.
The Tobie Hatfield, Kevin Hoffer, and Bob Mervar-designed creation is dressed in vibrant yellow and red as well as understated black and white. It retains the same construction that established it as an industry-leading product in 2000. Neoprene material is combined with moulded support structures in the mid-foot and heel, the latter of which feature mountain range graphics. On the forefoot, a traditional illustration of a zig-zag road runs directly beneath the semi-translucent cages at the profiles. Underfoot, the sole units are devoid of overt references to the Presto’s theme, as is likely the case with other Nike Sportswear products that are certain to join it as part of an expansive collection.
Nike has not disclosed specific details about the launch of Nike.com, but that is likely to change as spring and summer approaches. While you wait, take a look at the official images of the sneakers that follow.
In other sneaker news, the Air Jordan 3 “Cardinal Red” will now release on February 19th, rather than February 24th.
